RE YA KGOLA CHARITY
'We are Growing'
As a family, we try and raise money for various Children's Charities throughout the year. Last year through your kind support we helped provide Christmas gifts to 147 children in a camp just outside Pretoria, South Africa.
The camp is supported by an unbelievable Lady called Lillian Sebeela, known to everyone as 'Ma Lillian'.
Ma Lillian started the Re Ya Kgola charity from her own home and garage in 2003. Today she provides support to approximately 320 single mothers and orphaned children. In addition to this, approximately 125 pensioners attend the centre three times a week for a hot meal, many being unable to either afford or cook for themselves.
The charity provides blankets, food parcels, sanitary items for schoolgirls and shelter to the neediest in their community as well as assisting in enrolling the children into schools, many of them without the basic paperwork required such as birth certificates.
This year, due to the global pandemic, the need for support is even greater. On the ground volunteers in South Africa are repurposing donated toys for Christmas and we are hoping to raise £2,000.00 to ease the burden of having to rely on food donations to keep the centre going over Christmas.
